
Marc Lanzkowsky, JD
Marc Lanzkowsky began his career as a Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney in New
York, where he represented physicians and hospitals against claims or negligence.
After seven years, Marc became a Medical Malpractice Claims Adjuster at Zurich Insurance
Company. Managing a caseload of physician, hospital and nursing liability claims,
he was part of a black belt team that helped improve claims department operations.
With his promotion to Northeast Regional Manager for Healthcare Medical Malpractice
Claims, Marc was responsible for over 1,900 professional liability claims and more
than $250 million in outstanding reserves. He then rose to the position of Claims
Director for Operational Innovation for the Specialty Claims Division.
Following his success at Zurich, Marc was recruited to help build a specialty claims
organization, including the management of Medical Malpractice claims, as Vice President
(and, later, Senior Vice President) of Home Office Claims Management for Arch Insurance
Company. At Arch he was responsible for developing and managing the overall operational
processes and controls for the claims department.
In his consulting practice, Marc has worked with organizations to help improve their
claims operations and processes. Marc has had numerous engagements by Medical Malpractice
providers and has audited a major hospital self-insured physician and hospital malpractice
program advising on appropriate claim practices and reserves.
In addition to his work at Lanzko, Marc serves as a member of the Board of Directors
for IncentOne, a provider to the healthcare industry of technology designed to help
lower the overall costs of healthcare in this country through integrated incentive
solutions. Marc is the Editor and Publisher of The Claims SPOT, an industry blog
on Claims, which is the featured blog for CLAIMS Magazine and was named one of the
Top Insurance Blogs by Lexis/Nexis.
Marc received a bachelor’s degree from New York University in 1988 and a Juris Doctorate
from Pace University School of Law in 1991 and comes from a family of 9 physicians
making the subject of Medical Malpractice near and dear to his heart.
